Origin:

A native plant in Oregon and California, and found commonly in early spring as a roadside and meadow wildflower.

Biology:

An annual wildflower that reproduces from seeds, this is a common sight in Northern California and Oregon in muddy areas along roadsides. It is not considered a problem.

Identification:

Mature plants are small, usually no more than 10 inches high with multiple branching stems. The leaves are very small and narrow and occurring very sparsely along the stem. The showy flowers are less than 1 inch long but are bright blue and white, with a yellow patch at the center of the irregular flower.
