Several varieties that are native to California.


Creeping perennial broadleaf plants, that often are used as a "turf" or groundcover. They also invade desirable grass turf and may spread enough to severely thin out the grasses. Growth is from rhizomes and stolons, as well as seeds.


Low growing and forming mats that completely cover the soil. Stems are thin and twining, and root freely at the nodes. Leaves are round and up to 1 inch wide, dark green and shiny. Leaves are on long stems. Tiny white flowers may be present.

Characteristicts Important to Control:

A perennial plant often used for desirable purposes, but escaping and invasive in landscape and turf. Regrowth and spreading from stolons and rhizomes.
