TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Grant and Raymond Capelouto
of Capelouto Termite & Pest Control received an award
for outstanding family business at the Entrepreneurial
Excellence Showcase and Awards Banquet sponsored
by Florida State University's Jim Moran Institute for
"We're just delighted to have been selected," Grant
Capelouto, told the local Tallahassee Democrat
newspaper. "It's an affirmation of our service to our
customers and our staff."
“We are a family business," he added. "We treat our
people like family, because they are family to us."
JMI gives the award annually to businesses that have
at least $1 million in sales and are clients of the Jim
Moran Institute. This year's theme is "Will work for fun,"
and business owners will speak about how they
maintain a fun, entertaining, yet efficient environment.
"I think what we do is create a very positive
atmosphere," Grant Capelouto said. The company has
family outings and company picnics to show its
appreciation. They give employees monthly bonuses
when they meet company goals. And they recently
rented out a movie theater so employees and their
families could see a private showing of The Shaggy
